Honestly people make Japanese listening way harder than it is. It's exactly like French where you just filter out half the words anyway. When I watch dramas, I just ignore everything at the end of the sentence because it's always just polite filler. In Spanish we do the exact same thing with verb endings. Honestly people overreact to missing a few days. In French we have this concept where pausing actually solidifies the grammar structure in your subconscious anyway. Japanese is literally the same. Missing days doesn't mean you've 'failed' or whatever, you're just in a passive storage phase. It's like how Russian verbs have perfective aspects. Just start again, it's not that deep.

You are doing it wrong if you put five meanings on one card. Here is the routine. First you make separate sibling cards for every single definition. Second you adjust your starting ease factor to 210% to prevent ease hell. Third you lock the card interval to a strict 1-day, 3-day, 7-day progression. Anything else is just wasting your memory potential and you will fail.

ok so i saw 男児 on a post and i thought it meant boyfriend because of the male kanji but then my friend said no thats kareshi?? but then i looked at 児 and it looks kinda like 兄 so is it like male brother? or is it just a normal boy? im so lost with these kanji that look like they have little legs at the bottom idk help

Just hit a word that apparently means like five completely different things depending on 'context' or whatever. I literally just reset my deck last week and I'm already about to throw my phone. How am I supposed to memorize these when the goalposts keep moving? Honestly why do I even bother trying anymore.

hi guys! so i heard that japanese has like zero tone or pitch and you have to speak totally flat like a robot or people won't understand you? is that true? because i think i sound super weird trying to do that. also wait, does using the wrong stroke order for kanji mess up your accent too? idk someone told me they are connected and now im scared to write anything. sorry if this is a dumb question!

ok so basically everyone messes up the r sound because they think its like english but actually you just gotta hit the roof of your mouth really hard like you are saying d but also l at the same time?? like try saying letters super fast and it just works honestly also dont stress the vowels at all just whisper them kinda i do this and my accent is so good now i think

Saw some 19yo influencer chain 5 grammar points flawlessly to talk about import laws. Meanwhile I try to connect two basic clauses and it feels like a physical error in my brain. Textbooks show them in isolation but real speech is just a mess of connection rules. I guess I'll just stick to caveman sentences while YouTube tells me I should be fluent by next Tuesday.

omg so i barely slept last night because my cat was literally crying at 3am for no reason then i woke up late and spilled iced coffee all over my desk anyway i was trying to look up this vocabulary word from my homework and it has like ten different definitions listed in the dictionary and they don't even relate to each other?? how are we supposed to actually learn these? do you just guess?

People make such a big deal about particles. Actually, if you know any French or Spanish, wa and ga are literally just the subjective and objective case markers we use in Latin. It is the exact same logic. I just map wa to de and ni to a and I have not made a single mistake yet. Stop memorizing lists and just use your European grammar sense, it is not that deep.
