Practice for linking grammar patterns

I find it hard to use multiple grammar patterns in one sentence when I'm talking about my day. I know the individual rules, but I freeze up trying to connect them during a real conversation. Does anyone have a daily habit or drill to help make these transitions feel more natural? I'm tired of sounding so robotic.
