Genki wants you to think 距離 is for physical distance. Spoiler: it is not. Ask any native, they only use 距離 for relationship drama and emotional spacing. If you use it for miles, you sound like a robot. Literally every native just uses 間 or 遠い for space. Stop memorizing textbook lists and start listening to real people.
