Pitch Precision in Vowel Extensions

I've been analyzing the rhythmic precision of "楽章" (movement) versus shorter compounds. Beginners often truncate that final 'o', much like the subtle nasal distinction needed in "入館" (entry). Is the pitch drop typically steeper when transitioning from a long vowel, or is the perceived shift just a byproduct of duration? I'm trying to avoid that common flat tone.
