how do you guys actually remember new vocab

so like i learn a word like transport or whatever and then its goen the next day. their is literally no way to keep it in my bran. its like poreing water in a leeky bucket. weight did i leave the oven on?? anyways does series actually work for you guys because i feel like im just guessing. my thum hurts from typing on one hand. its just so hard to retain. help
