Getting tripped up by Japanese synonyms for destination

I used the wrong word for destination in my writing practice yesterday and got corrected. I realized that just because English uses one word doesn't mean the Japanese synonyms are interchangeable. One is about the physical end point but the other is more about the direction you are heading. My big takeaway is to always check the nuance instead of just grabbing the first dictionary result.
