people overcomplicate 習 when it's literally just spanish

I don't get why everyone struggles with 習. In Spanish we have 'aprender' which basically works the exact same way. Everyone tells me I need to use 練習 for practice and 習う for learning but honestly they are the same root. If you just use 習 for everything like a romance language verb it makes perfect sense. Stop listening to textbooks that make you overthink the difference, it's not that deep.
