is 装着 actually for normal clothes or like sci fi?

ok so i saw 装着 on a game and dictionary says equip but like. can i say i 装着 my jacket when its cold?? or is that weird. wait my friend said something about 送付 but i think that means sending. anyway i totally forgot my point but yeah do real people actually say 装着 for normal clothes or is it just for like... robot armor. i feel like if i say it at a restaurant to put on a bib they will laugh
