wait is 俳 just short for haiku or does it mean something else

ok so i saw 俳 on a poster for a drama show and i thought 俳 was for haiku poetry?? but people were talking about actors. is 俳優 like a poem actor or am i completely making that up. like why is haiku in the word for actor unless they are always reciting poetry in Japanese TV shows... someone please tell me if this is dumb idk
