why is 橘 even in my deck

just reset my deck for the fifth time this year and got hit with 橘. textbook says it means 'mandarin orange' but everyone just says みかん right? why am i memorizing some obscure wild citrus tree. apparently it's a family crest or something too? i can't even read a basic email and my deck is forcing this on me. i'm so done with this.
