does 送 actually mean send or am i crazy

ok so i learnd 送 as 'to send' like a letter write? but then my friend said they wood 送 me home on there car and i was like wait are you shipping me in a box?? lol. my phone autocorrected it to 食べる earlier anyway. is it for people to or did i hear them wrong because now im super confused. anyway my mom is mad (怒) cuz i havent visited her at her 実家 but i have no cash
