kanji or kana when rushing??

So my cat literally threw up on my laptop today so im stuck on my phone typing notes for my class and my hands are literally cramping up so bad lol. Anyway i was trying to write down these vocab words super fast before the slides changed and i got so confused. when do you guys just write the phonetic hiragana instead of the hard kanji symbols when you're in a rush? like does it look super dumb if i skip them?
