How to stop translating everything in your head

im trying to learn vocab without always translating to english in my brain but its so hard like when I see a word for clothing or traffic i immediately look for the english word instead of just seeing the actual thing. my brain is so slow lol. i tried flashcards with pics but then i get distracted by my cat shes so cute. does anyone have a weigh to make it click? like how do u just know it without the middle man.
