I recently tested ditching translation-heavy flashcards to improve my reading speed. Instead of linking words like 都市 to city or 犠牲 to sacrifice, I focused on mental imagery and context clues. After fourteen days, my processing speed increased. For instance, seeing 視界 now triggers a blurred-vision feeling rather than a dictionary definition. It is harder to set up, but the fluid recall is worth the effort.
