Reading and listening at the same time?

Hey! I'm trying out some new tactics to help things stick better. I want to try reading and listening at the same time but I'm not sure how to start. Should I read the text alone first so I don't get lost or just hit play and follow along? I really want to make sure this is actually helpful for my memory. I'm still a beginner so maybe I'm overthinking it but I'd love some advice.
