how to stop translating in your head??

Okay so i'm trying to learn words like stamp and trigger but like without using english in my brain?? but every time I see stamp I think of envelope and then my brain just goes to post office and I FORGET what I was even trying to look up. like does anyone have tricks for this? My friend said to use pictures but then I just see a picture of a dog and think CAT... wait what was I asking again? anyway help please befor
