is 奇 actually used for weird stuff

so i learned 奇 means like strange or weird write? but then i saw it in some list and now im so confused. like is it actually used in real life for weird stuff or do people just say okashii? i keep seing it in odd numbers too like 奇数 which is just mind blowing to me lol. my phone keeps changing odd to ode. also at first glance (一見?) it looks like a guy wearing a hat but wait i lost my train of thought.
