how do you stop translating in your head??

idk if this is a dumb question but how do people actually stop translating? like when i see a word i have to think of the english word first to know what it is. if i try to use pictures instead i just name the picture in english anyway inside my head lol. am i supposed to just look at the word and feel nothing? wait how does this work i feel so stuck
