Refining Particle Nuance through Narrative Context

I've been trying to solidify my grasp of particles by analyzing specific sentences in a 小説 I'm reading. For example, when a character who is an 医師 has to 演じる a different role, the shift between 'ni' and 'de' feels so subtle. I find that seeing these patterns in a real narrative helps more than grammar drills. Does anyone else focus on specific character interactions to fix these nuances in their mind?
