how do you deal with words having like 50 meanings??

wait im so confused. is "husband" and "boss" literally the same word in japanese? and "house" and "building"? how do you guys know what anyone is saying? is it like spanish where gender changes it or is it just random? idk this is making me want to quit already is this a dumb question
