how to review vocab without dying of boredom?

so im trying to review vocab but its so boring. i heard somewhere that if you actually study words it blocks your natural acquisition? like you should only see a word once and then sleep on it? is that real? also i think looking at flashcards too much ruins your kanji vibes. wait is that dumb? how do people not fall asleep doing this, maybe i should just watch anime instead
