On Day 14 of my vocab optimization sprint, I hit a massive efficiency bottleneck with 水路. Kept swapping it with 道路 and 通路. Here is my system to fix this. Step 1: isolate the 'ro' sound in a 30-minute block. Step 2: run a 50-card flashcard cycle of only 'road' kanji at 5 AM. If you mix up 水路 with other 路 words, your Phase 1 foundation is broken. Reset your tracking sheet immediately.
