how do you guys actually review vocab without dying?

i feel like my brain is melting. i try to review words like station or protect but then i get sucked into looking up funeral and lake and then i realize i forgot what i was even studying in the first place?? wait is this dumb to ask but does anki actually work for anyone because i just stare at the screen and it feels like a state of endless torture lol. how do you not get bored after like 2 minutes? help idk
