why bother writing kanji quickly

Everyone has these grand theories about when to switch to kana to write faster. Honestly, what's the point? If I try to write kanji quickly, it looks like a stroke patient's doodle. If I write in pure kana, I look illiterate. You can't win. I've spent years on this and still just type everything anyway. The whole writing system is just a massive waste of time.
